Sharing Medication Information With Family and Caregivers
MedRemind makes it easy to share your medication schedule with trusted family members or caregivers who help manage your health.

Why Sharing Matters
For many patients, especially older adults, children, and individuals with complex health conditions, a family member or caregiver plays an essential role in medication management. Sharing your medication information ensures that someone else can step in if needed, whether during an emergency, a hospital visit, or simply a busy day.
Setting Up Family Sharing in MedRemind
MedRemind includes a family sharing feature that lets you grant access to your medication schedule and adherence data. To set it up:
- Open the app and go to Settings, then Family Sharing
- Tap "Add Family Member" and enter their email address
- Choose the level of access: view-only or view-and-manage
- The invited person will receive a notification to accept the connection
Caregiver Mode
If you manage medications for someone else, such as an aging parent or a child, MedRemind's caregiver mode lets you set up and monitor their medication schedule from your own device. You will receive notifications if they miss a dose and can view their adherence history alongside your own.
Emergency Access
In a medical emergency, healthcare providers need to know what medications a patient is taking. MedRemind allows you to generate a printable or shareable medication list that includes drug names, dosages, and schedules. Consider keeping a printed copy in your wallet and saving a digital version where emergency contacts can access it.
Privacy Controls
You are always in control of who sees your data. You can revoke access at any time, change permission levels, or temporarily pause sharing. MedRemind does not share your data with anyone you have not explicitly authorized.
Coordinating Care
When multiple people are involved in a patient's care, communication is critical. MedRemind's shared view ensures that everyone is on the same page about what medications are being taken, when they are due, and whether doses have been completed. This reduces the risk of double-dosing or missed doses when responsibilities are shared.
